The City Council voted to support
the plan to relocate the short course and build the long
course this summer. There's still
work to do on an operating agreement and a tight
timeline we've got to meet to get Project 32 under
construction this summer. Some odd things
are going on in the background with a Park Commissioner,
but everything else seems to be moving
forward.
We're hoping for good weather for the
Shasta Series and the Sherwood Forest work day, both of
which are happening this month. After that the
Outsiders will be working on a spring disc golf
tournament for kids and a disc golf summer camp, both
being put on in conjunction with CARD.
You can
always learn more about what we're doing by visiting our
web site or emailing me

Shasta Series: We're
sponsoring the Shasta Series Chico Challenge disc golf
tournament this Saturday (2-6-10). It's being held
at Community Park, 20th Street, in Chico. 18
baskets are being brought in for what is a challenging
course layout.
The cost to play this 1 day tournament is
$30. There
is a morning and afternoon round, followed by an awards
ceremony upstairs at the Bear. We'll play rain
or shine.
Signups are from 8:30AM-9:00AM for
people who don't have Shasta Series "bag tags". The tournament
is limited to 100 people.

Sherwood Forest Work
Day: A workday
at the Sherwood Forest disc golf course has been
scheduled for February 20th from
9AM-2PM.
We'll be installing steps, a Robin Hood themed
obstacle, concrete tee-pads, and will be distributing
mulch around the site.
The Outsiders have
registered the workday with Disney's Give a Day, Get a
Day program.
40 people have signed up for the work day, and
? once completed will earn a free ticket to Disneyland.
If you'd like to
help out please email

City of Chico
Support: On 1-19-10 the Chico City
Council voted unanimously to provide up to $52,000 for
the construction on the long course on highway 32. Money will also
be available to place 18 targets in city parks. The short course
will be removed, and the process begun to find an
alternate location.
Construction of the long
course will likely begin in August of this year. The money
allocated by the City Council is "matched" funds. So we still need
donations, hole sponsors, and paying members to ensure
the disc golf improvements can take place
quickly.
Please consider donating and/or joining
today. http://www.chico-outsiders.com/Outsiders/Donate.html |

Join The
Outsiders
In order to keep the highway
32 disc golf site open for play the Outsiders must
pay for monitoring studies, maintenance, and
insurance. We need a membership base of 100 people
to make this happen.
For about $4 per month
you can keep disc golf alive in Bidwell Park
by joining the Outsiders. Membership is $50
per year. You can pay in a lump sum, or pay
$10 every other month for 10 months.
