Last
month the Park Commission approved our operating
agreement on a 6-1 vote. The agreement defines our
responsibilities in maintaining the highway 32 site for
disc golf. The single vote against supporting the
agreement was by Commissioner Jane Turney, who is also
the Vice President of the Friends of Bidwell Park.
The agreement took more than a year to put
together, and is the last major step in the "process" we
have to go through before the highway 32 site can be
built. Both the Park Commission and the City
Council need to approve the agreement.
The City Council is expected to look
at it this month.
We're hoping they
approve it as is, and don't change it to the point where
we can not sign it. Keep your fingers
crossed.

Blossom Toss'em
We're
putting this event on in partnership with
CARD. CARD recently paid for improvements to
the site (including concrete tee-pads),
and has purchased 100 custom
discs to be given out to kids 14 and under on the
day of the event. You can see the disc stamp
designed by artist Gregg Payne at
our web site.
You should register your child for this event with CARD
to ensure a disc is reserved for them (see how
below).
During
the first hour of the event we will give out the
discs. During the second hour we'll hold a
tournament for 9-14 year olds. You do not
need to play in the tournament to receive a custom
disc.
Sports LTD, The Outsiders, and the Awards Company are providing discs
and trophies for winners of the tournament. Tournament
play will be broken down into 3 age groups
with 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14 years olds
competing.
