The Outsiders would like to thank the 68 volunteers who showed up on February 20th at the Sherwood Forest kids' disc golf course workday. |
| A $4,000 Gift | |
| An anonymous donation of $4,000 has been made to the highway 32 disc golf project. The generous donor has committed to matching funds we can raise during the next 6 weeks, up to $4,000. Donations made during this time frame will be worth 4x the donated amount because the City of Chico has also agreed to match funds. Therefore, a $25 donation is worth $100 to the disc golf project if donated in the next 6 weeks. The Chico Outsiders are soliciting donations in any dollar amount in order to maximize this fundraising opportunity. If you can donate ANY amount to the disc golf project please do so now. The donations are tax exempt, and may be made at our donate page with major credit cards. Hole sponsorship opportunities, which require a donation of $500, are also available. When included as part of this matching program a $500 hole sponsorship would be worth $2,000 to the disc golf project. Help us take advantage of this generous offer by donating to the Chico outsiders today. |

| Council funding | |
| On 1-19-2010 the City Council voted to match money and volunteer time that the Outsiders apply to Project 32. They will match up to $52,000 and volunteer time is calculated at more than $20 per hour. The council vote was unanimous, although there was an attempt early on by three councilors to prevent any decision that night. Quite a bit of documentation must be completed, and the Park Commission and City Council will need to okay our operating agreement before construction can begin. The goal is to complete construction of the long course between July and November of this year. We will also install 18 disc golf targets in local parks (pending CARD approval) and remove the short course for at least two years. |

| shasta series - | |
| Thanks go out to Outsiders Chip Frink, Mark Bohn. and Don Hansler. for helping organize and run the Shasta Series Chico Challenge (held 2-6-10). 78 disc golfers showed up and played two rounds of golf at Community Park. This regional traveling tournament has helped grow the sport of disc golf by introducing players to our region's courses. As the Shasta Series has grown more courses are coming online, and the various disc golf communities in the north state are communicating with each other. The Outsiders were proud to sponsor this event in Chico. | |
